Plus if you include GBA fighting games you get stuff likeĭS also had a lot more original content and non ports than the PSP. Just kidding, I'll stop now.ĭS had actual games made by Microsoft own it not called mine craft.ĭS also had actual Call of duty games that played pretty wellĪctually the DS seemed to have had more FPSes than the PSP, which is surprising to me but I guess people preferred to play it stylus vs the nub.ĭS wasn't a slouch when it came to Fighting games either. This is a neverending quest remember lol that's why I brought up 3rd person shooters. The developers made whatever they felt best though, and that's all fine and good. There was nothing stopping developers from making 3D games in a variety of genres at even a PS1 level of graphical fidelity and if the games were good obviously I'd see them as good reps for the genres. The RPGs on the DS for the most part are not as graphically impressive as the PSP (artstyle is a different matter) but they still got made. It's not fair to class it as another genre win for the PSP but I would have done so if I'd not been so silly to include the Syphon Filter games (which are actually closer to A tier as far as handheld games at the time go) as 3D action titles.Īgain i don't think power constraints of the DS is a valid excuse for not having games like this. They're better when played on a vita and obviously not the best of games but they're welcome additions to the library nonetheless and worth a mention.
The 3rd Birthday, Earth Defense Force 2 Portable and Chili Con Carnage.
The PSP also has a few B-tier third person shooters.
